There are a couple of answers to this question. The real answer is: depends on what your goal is and the results you want.
The best recovery time for a particular area when using burst training is about one hour. At this point we get full muscle use age back. For an ideal physiological change you can use this method as many times through the day as you can but make sure that you have an hour between sessions.
Recovery: Every other day is a great routine to get into. This gives your body a chance to recover from your workouts. Remember over training your body is a bad thing and if you get into the routine of over training then your gains will soon disappear and you will begin to slide backwards.
Also another good indicator that you may have pressed the burst training routine too far is if you are sore the next day. You may have enough soreness just to say that it might be the case, and that could be at the high end of normal.
I use the Xiser equipment for burst training because it is the easiest way i have found to implement it in the office as well as at home. It is extremely small and compact, it also gives the right amount of resistance to achieve that burst. I urge everyone to at least try it out because i cannot tell you how many people underestimate the Xiser and its ability to work you out.
If your goal is weight loss I have known people to use the Xiser equipment once an hour all day long. This can be the extreme, and for some unreasonable. I used the Xiser equipment 3-4 times a day for about 2 months spanning from just before thanksgiving to a couple weeks after new years and lost about 37 pounds.
If you want to try the Xiser equipment out contact us at the office for a free demo.

Thanks so much for your post. I just got a used Xiser from a friend and have been using it every day for the last week and feel great. Started doing 30 second bursts with 1 min. "rest" time in between. I find it interesting that you did it 3 or 4 times a day for 2 months and had great success. Wondering what your program was for bursting. Did you do 4 one-minute intervals each time or... ? Also, what is your "maintenance program" like? Do you still do 3 to 4 times a day or do you just do once a day for maintenance or maybe 3 times a week? Thanks again for sharing. I love the xiser because it saves me so much time AND I have so much more energy and feel great all day long!
